Over sixty years ago, both Germany and Japan surrendered unconditionally to the Allies. Thus ended one of history’s most destructive wars.

In 2005, as Europe commemorated the 60th anniversary of V-E or Victory-in-Europe Day, we are reminded anew of how Germany, after WWII, has achieved reconciliation, and has transformed herself into a respected member of the international community. Then German President Koehler marked the occasion by stating that, “It is with horror and shame that we Germans look back on the Second World War that Germany unleashed, and on the Holocaust, the brutal perversion of all civilized values perpetrated by Germans.” However, the anniversary of V-J Day in Asia was marked by rising tension, and a continuing debate over Japan’s unresolved WWII responsibility.

PLEASE ANSWER THE FOLLOWING TOPIC IN 1,200 WORDS OR LESS:

Analysis of Postwar Behaviors Between Germany And Japan

Describe the difference in postwar behaviors and attitudes between Germany and Japan. In your discussion touch on the difference in their present day rationales for starting an aggressive war, their perception of their responsibility to the victims, victimized countries, and their own future generations.
